16B. Appearances of the Archangel Raphael

I believe the 11 references that follow include an appearance of the angel Raphael. In most of these entries, there is only one angel whom I believe is the angel Raphael. I received this from meditation and prayer.

You might also want to confirm all of this by prayer, and not rely alone on my words. I know Heavenly Father hears our prayers and answers the honest truth seeker.

Enjoy!

A. 1. Genesis 32:24-30

"And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.

And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob’s thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him.

And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.

And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob.

And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.

And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after my name? And he blessed him there.

And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved."

Genesis 48:16

"The Angel which redeemed me from all evil, bless the lads; and let my name be named on them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; and let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth."

2. 2. Judges 13:1-21

"And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the Lord; and the Lord delivered them into the hand of the Philistines forty years.

And there was a certain man of Zorah, of the family of the Danites, whose name was Manoah; and his wife was barren, and bare not.

And the angel of the Lord appeared unto the woman, and said unto her, Behold now, thou art barren, and bearest not: but thou shalt conceive, and bear a son.

Now therefore beware, I pray thee, and drink not wine nor strong drink, and eat not any unclean thing:

For, lo, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; and no razor shall come on his head: for the child shall be a Nazarite unto God from the womb: and he shall begin to deliver Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.

Then the woman came and told her husband, saying, A man of God came unto me, and his countenance was like the countenance of an angel of God, very terrible: but I asked him not whence he was, neither told he me his name:

But he said unto me, Behold, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; and now drink no wine nor strong drink, neither eat any unclean thing: for the child shall be a Nazarite to God from the womb to the day of his death.

Then Manoah entreated the Lord, and said, O my Lord, let the man of God which thou didst send come again unto us, and teach us what we shall do unto the child that shall be born.

And God hearkened to the voice of Manoah; and the angel of God came again unto the woman as she sat in the field: but Manoah her husband was not with her.

And the woman made haste, and ran, and shewed her husband, and said unto him, Behold, the man hath appeared unto me, that came unto me the other day.

And Manoah arose, and went after his wife, and came to the man, and said unto him, Art thou the man that spakest unto the woman? And he said, I am.

And Manoah said, Now let thy words come to pass. How shall we order the child, and how shall we do unto him?

And the angel of the Lord said unto Manoah, Of all that I said unto the woman let her beware.

She may not eat of any thing that cometh of the vine, neither let her drink wine or strong drink, nor eat any unclean thing: all that I commanded her let her observe.

And Manoah said unto the angel of the Lord, I pray thee, let us detain thee, until we shall have made ready a kid for thee.

And the angel of the Lord said unto Manoah, Though thou detain me, I will not eat of thy bread: and if thou wilt offer a burnt offering, thou must offer it unto the Lord. For Manoah knew not that he was an angel of the Lord.

And Manoah said unto the angel of the Lord, What is thy name, that when thy sayings come to pass we may do thee honour?

And the angel of the Lord said unto him, Why askest thou thus after my name, seeing it is secret?

So Manoah took a kid with a meat offering, and offered it upon a rock unto the Lord: and the angel did wondrously; and Manoah and his wife looked on.

For it came to pass, when the flame went up toward heaven from off the altar, that the angel of the Lord ascended in the flame of the altar. And Manoah and his wife looked on it, and fell on their faces to the ground.

But the angel of the Lord did no more appear to Manoah and to his wife. Then Manoah knew that he was an angel of the Lord."

5. 5. Luke 22:43

"And he was withdrawn from them about a stone’s cast, and kneeled down, and prayed,

Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.

And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.

And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground."

6. From my journal dated 4-4-2016:

"On Tuesday, I asked if Raphael was the angel who helped Jesus Christ in the Garden of Gethsemane when he was suffering (see Luke 22:43). Answer: YES!

. . . 7. Yesterday, after my prayer, Heavenly Father said to me:

'R, my son, I have awakened you to your identity before coming to mortality. You are my healing angel Raphael, whom I sent to people to heal them in all ages of the earth's temporal existence. Your calling, then and now, is part of my plan to administer healing and comfort to my children while they are in the flesh. You also had the singular charge to strengthen my Beloved Son in Gethsemane as recorded in Luke 22:43.'

8. . . . This morning I wrote this in my pocket journal:

'When I acted as a comforting angel to Jesus in his suffering in the Garden of Gethsemane, I was a conduit for Heavenly Father–with God's Loving Healing Hands gift. I believe now that Heavenly Father was intimately involved in assisting his Beloved Son during this very extremely difficult time–and by this means blessed his son and strengthened him.'

9. 6. Revelations 8:2

"And when he had aopened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour.

And I saw the seven angels which stood before God; and to them were given seven trumpets."

10. 7. 3 Nephi 17:24

"And he spake unto the multitude, and said unto them: Behold your little ones.

And as they looked to behold they cast their eyes towards heaven, and they saw the heavens open, and they saw angels descending out of heaven as it were in the midst of fire; and they came down and encircled those little ones about, and they were encircled about with fire; and the angels did minister unto them.

And the multitude did see and hear and bear record; and they know that their record is true for they all of them did see and hear, every man for himself; and they were in number about two thousand and five hundred souls; and they did consist of men, women, and children."

11. 8. 3 Nephi 19: 14-15

"And behold, they were encircled about as if it were by fire; and it came down from heaven, and the multitude did witness it, and did bear record; and angels did come down out of heaven and did minister unto them.

And it came to pass that while the angels were ministering unto the disciples, behold, Jesus came and stood in the midst and ministered unto them."

12. 9. D&C 77:12
12 Q. What are we to understand by the sounding of the trumpets, mentioned in the 8th chapter of Revelation?
A. We are to understand that as God made the world in six days, and on the seventh day he finished his work, and sanctified it, and also formed man out of the dust of the earth, even so, in the beginning of the seventh thousand years will the Lord God sanctify the earth, and complete the salvation of man, and judge all things, and shall redeem all things, except that which he hath not put into his power, when he shall have sealed all things, unto the end of all things; and the sounding of the trumpets of the seven angels are the preparing and finishing of his work, in the beginning of the seventh thousand years—the preparing of the way before the time of his coming.

13. I believe that Raphael is one of these angels with Michael, the chief archangel who is also the 7th angel (see D&C 88:112). Since this is in the future, the identity of which angel Raphael is was not yet shown to me.

14. 10. D&C 128:20-21

"And again, what do we hear? Glad tidings from Cumorah! Moroni, an angel from heaven, declaring the fulfilment of the prophets—the book to be revealed. A voice of the Lord in the wilderness of Fayette, Seneca county, declaring the three witnesses to bear record of the book! The voice of Michael on the banks of the Susquehanna, detecting the devil when he appeared as an angel of light! The voice of Peter, James, and John in the wilderness between Harmony, Susquehanna county, and Colesville, Broome county, on the Susquehanna river, declaring themselves as possessing the keys of the kingdom, and of the dispensation of the fulness of times!

And again, the voice of God in the chamber of old Father Whitmer, in Fayette, Seneca county, and at sundry times, and in divers places through all the travels and tribulations of this Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints! And the voice of Michael, the archangel; the voice of Gabriel, and of Raphael, and of divers angels, from Michael or Adam down to the present time, all declaring their dispensation, their rights, their keys, their honors, their majesty and glory, and the power of their priesthood; giving line upon line, precept upon precept; here a little, and there a little; giving us consolation by holding forth that which is to come, confirming our hope!"

From my journal dated 4-4-2016:

15. In D&C 128:21, the name Raphael, an angel is written who, with other diverse angels, declared their dispensations, their rights, their keys, their honors, their majesty and glory, and the power of their priesthood. . .

I received in prayer today that Raphael did indeed appear to the prophet Joseph Smith in the Kirtland Temple on January 5th, 1838. This was the period that Joseph was fleeing Kirtland before the apostates there who threatened his life, calling him a fallen prophet. At this time of great distress, Raphael appeared to him in the temple, giving him comfort and a blessing of healing and strength for the next part of his journey to Missouri. In this healing, God's Loving Healing Hands gift was given to Joseph, with Heavenly Father giving the healing. This is what I received in answer to prayer, and in the state of prayer and meditation."

16. 11. JST Revelations 12:6

I believe that Raphael is one of these angels with Michael, the chief archangel.

17. Note: this is given verbatim since it helps clear up lots of questions about the LDS view of angels

There are two kinds of beings in heaven who are called angels: those who are spirits and those who have bodies of flesh and bone. Angels who are spirits have not yet obtained a body of flesh and bone, or they are spirits who have once had a mortal body and are awaiting resurrection. Angels who have bodies of flesh and bone have either been resurrected from the dead or translated.

18. There are many references in scripture to the work of angels. Sometimes angels speak with a voice of thunder as they deliver God’s messages (Mosiah 27:11–16). Righteous mortal men may also be called angels (JST, Gen. 19:15). Some angels serve around the throne of God in heaven (Alma 36:22).

The scriptures also speak of the devil’s angels. These are those spirits who followed Lucifer and were thrust out of God’s presence in the premortal life and cast down to the earth (Rev. 12:1–9; 2 Ne. 9:9, 16; D&C 29:36–37).

22. Name of God: (see http://www.newworldencyclopedia.org/entry/El)

Ēl (Hebrew: אל) is a northwest Semitic word meaning "god" or "God." In the English Bible, the derivative name Elohim is normally translated as "God," while Yahweh is translated as "The Lord." El can be translated either as "God" or "god," depending upon whether it refers to the one God or to a lesser divine being. As an element in proper names, "el" is found in ancient Aramaic, Arabic, and Ethiopic languages, as well as Hebrew (e.g. "Samu·el" and "Jo·el"). In the post-biblical period, "el" becomes a regular element in the names of angels such as "Gabri·el," "Micha·el," and "Azri·el," to denote their status as divine beings. The semantic root of the Islamic word for God "Allah" is related to the semitic word El.

23. I believe that Raphael is one of the 7 archangels with Michael (who was Adam in the flesh and the chief archangel) and Gabriel (who was Noah in the flesh). The 'el' ending in each of these 3 well-known archangels refers to God, as shown above, because these angels are continually before the presence of God.

24. I believe that Michael is pronounced differently by God, to accent the 'el', just like in Gab-ri-el and Raph-a-
el. God pronounces it Mich-a-el.

25. Also see that all three of these archangels have names with 7 letters in them.

Note the placement of 'HA' in their names is always in the middle, and in the 4th and 5th letter of their 7-letter name. I believe 'HA' signifies healing angel. Note that Gabriel doesn't have an 'HA' since he is not a healing angel:

M I C H A E L, prince of the archangels, also a HA, or a healing angel
G A B R I E L, an archangel
R A P
H A E L, an archangel, also a healing angel
R A C H A E L, a healing angel with twin energies with Raphael (born in the same family on earth with Raphael as well)
R _ _ _ _ _ _, a mortal, also a HA, also starting with an 'R' like Raphael
